Record detected audio

MessageAuthor

OK, I'm not sure what to call this, so I'm also at a loss when searching. I used to own a mini-tape recorder that would start and stop on the presence or absence of sound. I work on a variety of systems in my "office" and would benefit by having a centralized location for saving audio notes through the day. Since my music computer is there and generally not in use while I'm working, Reaper seems like a possibility. Is there a way of configuring Reaper -- a plugin, I'd assume -- that would trigger it to start recording when detected levels went over a threshold and then stop when they went below another threshold for some amount of elapsed time?

1. Arm a track for recording+input monitoring (so REAPER has gets a signal to munch) and 2. Hit CTRL+ALT+B to open the File->"Save live output to disk..." dialog, uncheck the "Save output only..." and "Stop saving..." checkboxes and check "Dont save when below..." and enter an appropriate threshold level.

Thank you. That's a menu item that I never considered looking at because...well, I don't think I had any clue what it was trying to say. :)
